Forgotten Lapland

Lapissa, jos missä, riittää hylättyjä koteja. Ihmiset ovat joutuneet muuttamaan pois pienistä kylistä peltojen ja metsien keskeltä taajamiin, tai sitten seuraava sukupolvi ei ole ollut valmis jatkamaan tilallisen elämää suvun vanhassa talossa. Harmillista monelta kantilta, ja saapi nähdä, milloin kaupungistumisen vastaliike ottaa tulta alleen. Etelässä siitä on jo hieman merkkejä ilmassa. Kenties tämä on myös sukupolvikysymys: me, jotka olemme eläneet lapsuutemme temmeltäen ulkona ja samoillen metsissä, olemme saaneet nykymaailman digitaalisuudesta ähkyn, ja haluamme palata juurillemme.

Haluaisin kiertää ympäri Lappia kuvaamassa näitä yksinäisiä rakennuksia, kuulla tarinoita niiden takana. Tarvittaisiin vain aikaa ja auto alle.

Lapland. That mystical place in Northern Finland, which is quite full of abandoned houses. Unfortunately people have been forced to leave their homes in the middle of nowhere, to cities in seek of a job. Or maybe the next generation hasn't had the will to keep maintaining the family's farm. I wonder when this urbanization and migration will end. Somewhat it has already turned upside down in Southern Finland - people need to get out of the cities into the nature. Maybe it has something to do with our generation, those who have lived their childhood playing outside and wandering in forests, and who now are sort of forced to live in a digital nation.

I'd like to roam around Lapland and photograph these lonely buildings, hear stories behind them. All I'd need is some time and a four-wheeler.
