Muistatteko Reiskan kolmekymppisbileet? Siis ne Hullun Hatuntekijän Teekutsut, joista ei puuttunut tunnelman nostattajia, joista otin kuvia ja joista on, köh, aikaa.

Noh. Ajattelin, että voisi kai nämä peurakuvatkin joskus julkaista, kun niitä kerta on otettuki. Mies oli kaikessa hipsteriydessään metsuri, minä peura. Kummankaan ei tarvinnut etsiä sen kummempia naamiaisasuja, oma vaatekaappi riitti (+ pieni askartelusessio). Hauskaahan tietysti oli se, että peuroja osui juhliin sitten kaksin kappalein.

Do you remember Ravenwaves' 30th birthday bash aka The Mad Hatter's Tea Party? The one where every last detail was thought of, from where I took some pictures and which were held ages ago.

Well. I thought that I might as well publish these old photos of me as a deer. BF aka the photographer went as a lumberjack (or hipster, depends how you look at it) and neither of us needed to go to a costume shop, everything was found from our regular wardrobes (except for the antlers, haha). The funny thing was that there were actually two deer at the party.

Feel the beet

Syksy, jos mikä, on risoton juhlaa. Sienirisotto on toki se kaikkien ykkönen, mutta aina ei jaksa sieniä (varsinkaan, kun niitä ei itse jaksa lähteä etsimään ja poimimaan - onneksi on reippaita ystäviä). Silloin saattaa kaivaa netistä punajuuririsoton ohjeen, maustaa kokonaisuuden chévre-vaahdolla ja ripotella päälle rucolaa sekä paahdettuja pinjansiemeniä. Lasiin luomuvalkkaria ja täydellinen kombo odottaa syöjäänsä.

Autumn is definitely risotto's celebration. Although wild mushrooms make the best risotto, beetroot with chévre mousse, rocket and pine seeds (along with some organic white wine of course) make a pretty perfect combo, too. Maybe I need to make this again next week.

Qstock 2016

Heihou! Jotenkuten sitä on selvitty Flow'sta ja hieman epätoivoisesti myös päästy jonkinlaiseen työrytmiin kiinni. Tanssi on noussut askeleen ylöspäin, mikä vaatii rutkasti töitä niin kropalta kuin mieleltäkin, ja muun liikenevän ajan olen inspiroitunut erilaisista neuletöistä, kuten joka syksy. Ideoiden realisoitumisen kanssahan on aina vähän ongelmia, joten katsotaan, mitä saan valmiiksi ja mitä en edes aloitettua.

Festarikesä on valitettavasti ohitse. Qstockissa oli tänä kesänä kuitenkin monta loistavaa keikkaa, joten josko tässä jotenkin jaksaisi odotella ensi vuoteen asti. Festariraportit kuvineen nähtävissä Alice & Junessa sekä perjantailta että lauantailta!

Heyyy! Somehow I've managed to continue life after Flow and get back to a working rhythm (the attempt is a bit desperate though). Dancing has stepped up a notch which requires tons of work from both the body and mind, and if I'm lucky to get a minute or two of "nothing to do", I can usually be found getting inspired by different knits, like every autumn. As you might know, I'm lousy at getting anything actually done. So we'll see what the darkening nights bring.

Anyway, the summer festival season is definitely over. Qstock had lots of brilliant gigs this summer and one can now only wait patiently until next year. Festival reports with loads of pics can be seen at Alice & June from both Friday and Saturday!

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Viimeisten kesälomapäivien lukemistoksi sopi täydellisesti Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, joka ilmestyi J.K. Rowlingin (ja Harryn itsensä) syntymäpäivänä, heinäkuun viimeisenä. Kyseessä ei ole varsinainen jatko-osa rakastetulle saagalle, vaan 19 vuotta viimeistä kirjaa myöhemmin sattuvista tapahtumista kertovan näytelmän käsikirjoitus. Teos on paitsi Rowlingin, myös näytelmäkirjailija Jack Thornen ja ohjaaja John Tiffanyn käsialaa. Nyt ilmestynyt kirja on vasta Special Rehearsal Edition, Definite Collector’s Edition ilmestyy joskus ensi vuonna, ja siihen on korjattu kaikki ne tarkennukset, joita käsikseen on ensimmäisen kirjan painoon menemisen jälkeen tehty. Näytelmä itse sai ensi-iltansa Lontoon Palace Theatressa kesäkuun alussa.

Potter-fani ei yksinkertaisesti voi olla rakastamatta kirjaa. Se tunne, kun palaa takaisin Platform 9 ¾:lle! Ministry of Magiciin! Ai että. Päähenkilöinä ovat Harryn ja Ginnyn poika Albus sekä Dracon ja Astorian poika Scorpius, joskin vanhojakin naamoja vilahtelee tuon tuosta. Hankalinta kirjassa (ja eniten kritisoiviin kommentteihin kirvoittava seikka) on taatusti monelle ollut sen muoto – teos on tosissaan käsikirjoitus, dialogimuotoon kirjoitettu, eikä Rowlingin pitkiä tapahtumien tai ympäristön kuvailuja ole lainkaan. Aluksi kaipasinkin niitä kovin. Pidemmälle päästyäni kuitenkin huomasin, etteivät ne ole tarpeellisia päästäkseen maailmaan sisälle, sillä mielikuvitus kyllä hoitaa sen, mitä ei sanoin kerrota. Eikä Hogwarts tuntematon paikka ole laisinkaan.

Kirja on luettu valitettavan nopeasti kaikkine kyynelineen, ja jälleen kerran jää tyhjän päälle: mitä seuraavaksi? Onneksi sentään Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them -elokuvatrilogian ensimmäinen osa nähdään teattereissa pian, ja aina voi aloittaa jokasyksyisen urakan – lukea kaikki hartsapotsat alusta. Sillä rakkaaseen taikamaailmaan vain haluaa uppoutua yhä uudelleen. After all this time? Always.

What a better past-time for the last days of summer holiday than Harry Potter and the Cursed Child? The script for a play in the same name came out on author J.K. Rowling’s (and Harry’s) birthday, the last of July. This isn’t really a sequel, but as said, a script for a play made in book-form (so it would be ill-purposed to even talk about a novel). The events are placed 19 years after the last book in the Harry Potter series, and the actual play opened in London's Palace Theatre in June. This is a Special Rehearsal Edition, a book named the Definite Collector’s Edition with tweaks made into the script will be released next year. The story is written by Rowling, playwright Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany.

A Potterhead just simply can’t anything but love the book. That feeling, when you get to go back to Platform 9 3/4! Or Ministry of Magic! Main characters in the book are Harry’s and Ginny’s son Albus and Draco’s and Astoria’s son Scorpius, although old familiar faces are mentioned every now and then. Definitely the hardest part (and the thing which probably has risen the most criticism amongst fans) of the book is the script form. So yes, it’s mainly just a dialogue, and there are no long descriptions of happenings or surroundings. At first this was a bit of a bite for me, too, but then I realized I don’t need the descriptions. I love Rowling’s writing, but what isn’t typed one’s imagination can invent. So diving into the magical world wasn’t hard at all (especially when Hogwarts isn’t exactly new to me).

Unfortunately Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is read quickly and besides tears, you’re once again left with nothing. So what now? Luckily it isn’t long until the first Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie comes out, and yes, there will be three of them! And of course, there’s always the option of going back – which I actually do almost every autumn – and reading the whole saga once again. Because the magical world is so dear you just want to dive into it over and over again.
